Our only single plot cuvée from our Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir, the origins of “La Bessade” are at the heart of the estate family history. The name comes from Michel’s childhood home called “La Bessade”, this authentic little Provençal mas (low lying farmhouse) nestles in the middle of our vineyards. Its Grenache Noir vines, anchored in blond sand soil, were always dear to Michel’s grandfather and father and they already vinified this plot of vines apart from the rest. Coming back to this family tradition and in homage to the land of his childhood, Michel created his Cuvée Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge “La Bessade” in 2012. A truly expressive, refined, elegant and thoroughbred wine. The Quintessence of harmony between grape variety and terroir, our cuvée follows a specific maturing programme: 15 months the French oak demi-muids (hogshead barrels around double the standard size). Really suited to cellaring, our “La Bessade” needs to rest at least 5 years before it can show its full complexity and wealth of aromas and flavours.
